St Patrick's Primary School, Wallsend is a generous school community offering all families a welcoming, caring and safe environment for their children to learn, grow and achieve academically from Kindergarten to Year 6.

St Patrick’s offers high-quality education in a contemporary learning environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking and innovation, supported by outstanding facilities and technologies. The community of St Patrick’s is made up of teachers, parents, carers, parishioners and support staff who all work together to focus on the students.

Aiming for academic excellence, the school’s 'You Can Do It' program demonstrates to students the importance of being organised, resilient, persistent, confident and getting along with others, while the Positive Behaviour Scheme teaches students how to be safe, respectful and positive learners. St Patrick’s also has a strong Anti-Bullying Policy that ensures bullying and anti-social behaviour is not tolerated.Ìý

With access to current technology such as interactive SMARTboards, iPads and laptops, the school also incorporates computer coding and robotics into the curriculum to create a stimulating and adaptable learning environment for students.

To extend student’s language skills, the upper primary classes participate annually in the Diocesan Debating competition. Children from Years 2 to 6 also have the opportunity to be selected for the annual Public Speaking competition and to join the drama group.

Students are also encouraged to extend themselves in their reading, with many participating in the MS Readathon and the Premier's Reading Challenge. Children from Kindergarten to Year 2 follow the Wings Reading and Jolly Phonics and SWELL Programs, with students in Years 3 and 4 utilising the Book Web Plus Reading Program and the Magic Bean Reading Series and teachers of Years 5 and 6 having access to the Rigby Reading Scheme.

With staff and parents working together to ensure a positive, happy and challenging learning environment, students are encouraged to gain confidence by entering various competitions including the University of New South Wales competitions and the Newcastle Permanent Building Society Maths competition for Years 5 and 6.

Musically talented students are able to join the guitar group and school band and students also have the opportunity to represent the school in swimming, athletics and cross country, as well as netball, soccer, league, union, AFL, basketball, cricket, hockey, softball, tennis and touch football.

The school’s Creative Thinkers class recognises students with special skills in different areas and allows them to participate in a 'Catchment Crawl' under the Waterwatch program and enter the Tournament of the Minds held at the University of Newcastle.

The school also assists the wider community through involvement with the Catholic Mission, the '40 Hour Famine' and World Vision.

Students of St Patrick's Primary School, Wallsend are encouraged to continue their Catholic education by attending San Clemente High School, Mayfield for Years 7-10 and St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton for Years 11-12.
